The Fall Mid-America Orchid Congress will be held jointly with the Wisconsin Orchid Society Fall Show, "Fall in Love with Orchids, 2019," September 14-15, 2019.
The Fall Show will be presented in the 'Show Dome' of the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory. The Domes with their unique beehive-like shape, provide excellent lighting and climate control and are located close to the downtown area as well as Potawatomi Casino. Saturday: 9-5, Sunday 9-4. The lectures and meetings will be located at the nearby Art Deco-style Ambassador Hotel, Milwaukee, 2308 West Wisconsin Avenue, which will provide shuttle service to the Domes.
MS. WENDQING PERNER, and her late husband, Holger, developed and operated Hengduan Mountains Biotechnology Nursery and Laboratory in Sichuan, China that featured Cypripediums and Paphiopedilums from that area. She leads tours and is a featured orchid speaker at many shows. She will give the Shirley Burr Moore Lecture, "Chinese Cypripediums and their Culture" at 1 pm. Saturday and present "The Rare, The New and the Unusual" at the banquet. She will have plants for sale and the pre-order form will be on our website shortly, see link below.
MR. FRED CLARKE, noted hybridizer and owner of Sunset Valley Orchids, and well known AOS judge and speaker from California will be presenting "Catasetums" at 2 pm. on Saturday. At 3 pm. he will present 'Australian Dendrobiums." He will have plants for sale, and pre-orders can be made at his website, sunsetvalleyorchids.com.

The Domes at Milwaukee's Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory feature three different horticultural environments: Desert Oasis, Tropical Jungle and Floral Gardens. In 2016, the Domes were cited as being among America's "most endangered" historic places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Conservatory was deemed an important example of the nation's architectural and cultural heritage that is at risk of destruction or irreparable damage.
